Congratulations Nell Bridger, Melissa Creegan, and Cathy Gore--the lucky winners of the Tri for a Cure event raffle to benefit Jackie's Pink Tulip Garden!
Thank you for supporting the Pink Tulip Project! This particular garden is being planted in the name of Ms. Jacqueline Wilkes, a teacher of Anatomy & Physiology at SMCC. In addition to teaching, Jacqueline was an Air Force Pararescue stationed in Turkey, a Firefighter/Paramedic in San Francisco, as well as a consultant and researcher on methods to fight cancer. A true Renaissance woman!! Jackie always encouraged all of her students to not limit themselves or sell themselves short. The students from her classes have gotten together to organize and fundraise for this garden to honor Jacqeline and show our appreciation of her, and our admiration of her. This garden will raise funds for cancer research for cancers that affect women. Not only did we want to show Ms. Wilkes how much she has meant to her students and community, but it is also an opportunity for those of us who have either been affected ourselves or have loved ones who have been affected to do something productive and positive with the energy and power that can be generated through grief. Thank you so much for contributing to this cause, and spread the word!
